Description
Kenwood TS-93X or also known as the TS-930 Mark II. Powers on but no RX or TX, or digital display. This is a bit of a rare one, and very worthwhile to repair. Virtually similar to the 930S with some improvements. Comes in original box and manual if I can locate it. Open to reasonable offers. Great candidate for power supply upgrade.

The primary difference between the Kenwood TS-930S and what is referred to as the TS-93x (specifically the TS-930S MkII or later production models) lies in internal component refinements, improved frequency stability, and general design maturity rather than a change in functional capability or outward appearance. Key Differences and Notes
- Model Designation (TS-93x): "TS-93x" is generally used to denote the series, frequently referring to the later "MkII" version.
- Frequency Stability: The MkII/later units often included improvements to reduce drift in the first hour of operation, with specifications for stability generally within \(\pm 200 \text{ Hz}\) in the first hour and within \(\pm 30 \text{ Hz}\) per 30 minutes thereafter.
- Production Upgrades: Later 930S models (often identifiable by higher serial numbers, such as those beginning with '5' or higher, and specifically into the '8' series) featured improved factory modifications to address original design flaws, such as the power supply issues and heat management.
- Antenna Tuner: The 'T' in TS-930SAT denotes the internal automatic antenna tuner, which was standard on many, but not all, units. [1, 2, 3, 4]
TS-930S General Characteristics
- Transmitter Output: 100W+ (125W rated in some models) on HF bands (10-160m).
- Modes: SSB, CW, FSK, AM.
- Reputation: Known as a high-performance "flagship" vintage transceiver, but with common known issues, particularly in the power supply.
