The KY-116 / U is a thigh-mounted clamp that carries the classic American J-37 Morse Key with cable and standard PL-55 plug. It was designed for mobile defence forces for Morse code communications. It is expected to be used with a control box, such as the J-16 / ARC-5 that accepts the PL-55 plug.
I acquired this example from a US Marine. I have not used it. It appears brand new.
It is presently wired to close a circuit; it can easily be wired to break a circuit.
The main photo shows the key mounted on my leg. The other photos show various other aspects of the key, thigh clamp, cable and plug.

How you can use it
You can use this Morse appliance if you are the passenger in a motor vehicle. Your transmitter / transceiver needs to have a ¼” (6.35 mm) Morse key socket to accept the PL-55 plug. Some recent transceivers have no Morse key socket; then you need an adapter to plug into the microphone socket to activate the Push-to-talk circuit.You can display this key along with other militaria.
Why am I releasing it?
I used to use a J-37 in a J-45 thigh clamp when I operated Morse mobile. I have sold that key and put this one up for sale because using it takes my attention away from driving, for the same reason that it is now illegal for you to use a mobile phone while driving. Because I now use a stationary Morse key in my radio shack, this key is surplus.Packaging
