Description
You are bidding on one VHF Antenna matching unit, MX-2799 / VRC. There are two. One is complete with a spring mount for the antenna; the spring mount for the other was so heavily damaged, it was unrepairable.
The one with the spring mount is in Australian defence khaki livery; the other is in the US Army DOB. Though there are the expected paint scratches, there is no body damage - see photos.
The matching unit is designed for mounting horizontally or vertically on any flat surface on a Jeep, Land Rover, GMC truck, or APC. It was used by the Australian Army in Vietnam with the RT-524 transceiver to cover 30 to 75 MHz. It can also be used with the lower-powered PRC-25 and PRC-77.
All original equipment manufactured components are present.
You can
I acquired these to have one working and one for spares. But as my only application was for the Australian 6-m band (50 to 54 MHz), I designed and built a dedicated J-pole antenna. So, all these matching units are available.
I also have the LEDEX switched chassis and switching, but with no cards; ask me for a price.

You can
- use it in its original configuration with a PRC-25, PRC-77 or RT-524 and the correct, centre-fed vertical antenna. In such a configuration, the transceiver sends a control signal to the matching unit to index the LEDEX rotary-switched frequency band selection.
- use it for matching any VHF transceiver to any antenna, if you make up a suitable switching unit for frequency selection; I made one like the AS-1729 that you could use – ask for pricing.
- modify it to cover other frequencies by changing the components on the internal, plug-in circuit boards.
- add it to your collection of Vietnam War memorabilia.
