Description
On offer is this magnificent WESTON LM25B Transmitter with an awesome historical life. It was used as the base station for the Snowy River Shire Council from around ~1962, using the call sign VL2BR. That call sign I believe is still registered and used today. The picture included here will reveal that call sign using 3196 KHz.
She can be powered with either 240V mains or 12V DC, I only use the Mains option and have never used the DC source.
It has an Output of 16W and with wonderful Modulation as the old carbon mic insert was replaced last week with a very good AWA substitute, she is a pearler of a TX, but only one problem for me, she is ~18Kg. It uses a great Australian Made supply transformer by Ferguson, none better in my eyes having restored a few appliances in my life, they just "keep on giving".
She is currently tuned, and, might I say, professionally, on 1843 kHz. She has two channels. If you would like to have another crystal fitted of you choice of ~, then you could forward one to me and it will be introduced, tuned and aligned FREE Anything popular, 3686, 7125, 1857 & 1870, all popular Ham AM frequencies. Just plug her into 240V and away you go !
This is a historical and wonderful Tx with a lovely presentable front panel, those scrapes over the Snowy River ID on the top of the cabinet, sorry, but she is of perhaps ~1962 vintage. But she is a fully operational transmitter just waiting to be warmed up again and put back to full use.
I look at the calender in a couple of weeks, and, shudder, as I will be eighty years of age next year. As I am downsizing home, home, contents and my station, I have no choice but to see my historical equipment go to a caring new home. Thats life. : - (
She has a mass of ~18 - 19 Kg, so she can be packed carefully for post, but it would be a whole bunch easier for a P/U. Australia Post can handle if needed. Say ADL to SYD $48 plus a new heavy carton from Pack & Send ~$8. Can be managed.It can travel well with foam/sponge and new biodegradeable beads.
The new owner will not be disappointed, she is a classic with traditional valve quality.
