Seagate Black-Armor NAS 440/420
I have extended my server storage capacity here so now on offer is a Seagate NAS BlackArmor complete with four 1Tb drives that can be configured as a contiguous set providing 4TB of storage or in Raid configurations to suit the user.
My principal use was to store my system drive and linked Amateur radio related software and critical data with Acronis backups from several computers which were fitted with multiple hard drives for emergency recovery.
After these backups were placed on the NAS, the NAS was turned off and not left on for any longer than needed therefore the drive time of the server drives was minimised given that they were not used in a traditional server network environment.
I purchased this unit a couple of years back new from a computer shop in Clayton and it has worked without fail while on line.
The drives are all testing as healthy without any system warnings.
Case presentation is excellent however several of the attaching clips to the main chassis have broken and the face plate has some tape attached to ensure no damage.
The clips were broken when I lifted the front to assist in locating the drives when dealing with the caddies.
All operational software and documentation is available on the internet site for Seagate.
This NAS has a known and documented failing issue with the fixings of the hard drives within the individual caddies where the rubber stoppers that hold the drives in position for stability and location for accurate insertion of the hard drives to the NAS motherboard.
The new owner will need to provide some method of packing either side of the drives to secure them in place and for this reason, I am offering AS IS and without warranty.
The NAS unit is perfectly functional and is available for pick up in Caulfield South.
Note that this Blackarmor is suitable to be used on most operating systems but is not compatible with Windows 11.
For the price I am listing it at, I will not be packing or shipping and will be pick up only or purchaser to arrange their own courier to pick up and pack.
