MFJ-2286 Portable HF Vertical Antennas are MFJ's "Big Stick"! These portable verticals feature MFJ's rugged stainless-steel collapsible whip paired with an adjustable high-Q air-wound coil. This winning combination stands head and shoulders above shorter backpack antennas. They're also handy in stealthy operations!
These antennas are over 18 ft. long fully extended. Even so, they disassemble and collapse to only 28 in. to fit into most any size pack! At just over 2 lbs., they are also lightweight. You'll hardly know you're packing one! The MFJ-2286s include a convenient aluminum antenna mount. You may quickly and easily mount them to a pipe or mast up to 1.25 in. in diameter. An SO-239 connector with a lockwasher provides a feed point just underneath the 3/8-24 thread antenna base. Aluminum and stainless steel construction ensures years of excellent performance.
Their tapped loading coil covers 7.0-55.0 MHz without gaps. That's great for hams and outstanding for shortwave listeners! These antennas are shipped with their counterpoise kit included. The counterpoise ensures low SWR, high efficiency, and a better radiation angle. Add the fact that, unlike most portable antennas, these are rated at a full 1,000 Watts!
