Tokyo High Power Corporation announced the HL-255UKX, a 430MHz band all-mode power amplifier that can deliver 230W of output power with a drive power of 50W, on October 24th. The list price is 144,900 yen (tax included).
Tokyo High Power's new product, the HL-255UKX (from the company's website)
Tokyo High Power Corporation, a manufacturer of linear amplifiers for amateur and commercial radio, has announced the HL-255UKX (list price ¥144,900), an all-mode power amplifier that delivers 230W of output power with 50W of drive power in the 430MHz amateur radio band, making it suitable for EME applications. The power amplifier uses four Mitsubishi Electric RD60HUF1 MOSFETs, the latest in MOS FET technology. With an input power of 1-50W, it can deliver 5-240W of output power. It also features a built-in receiver preamplifier using the low-noise GaAs FET MGF1302F, making it ideal for DX communications.
It measures 220W x 86H x 340Dmm and weighs approximately 5.4kg. It operates on 13.8V DC and consumes a maximum of 36A of current during transmission. Optional accessories include the HRC-60 remote controller (¥4,179) and the HBK-300F cooling fan bracket (coming soon).
According to the company's website, the features of the HL-255UKX are as follows:
●Features of HL-255UKX
This is a 430MHz band power amplifier that can produce 230W of output power with a drive power of 50W.
- Supports a wide range of devices, from handheld transceivers to mobile and 50W fixed terminals.
- Equipped with a protection function using a PIC microcomputer, it constantly monitors the power line voltage and antenna status. If an abnormality is detected, it will automatically stop operation to prevent problems before they occur.
The power amplifier section uses the latest MOS FETs (Mitsubishi Electric RD60HUF1 x 4) to provide ample output power.
- Equipped with a carrier control function that detects the input power from the transceiver and automatically switches between transmission and reception on this unit, operation is possible simply by connecting the transceiver to a coaxial cable (supports operation in all modes including SSB, CW, FM, and AM).
-It has a built-in receiving preamplifier that uses a low-noise GaAs (gallium arsenide) FET (MGF1302F), which is well-known for its low noise, making it extremely effective for DX communications.

There is no user manual available, although the 2 metre version released in May 2023 is included, which has the circuit diagram similar to the 70cm version, except it uses different Mosfets suitable for 70cm. (RD60HUF1 by 4).
The amplifier is tested and in excellent cosmetic condition and runs off 13.8 volts at up to 33 amps. A great way of boosting your FM transmission in the mobile.
