Beautiful condition Icom ICPW1, only selling due to upgrade to ICPW2.
Comes with 8 spare MRF150 outputs transistors, probably never need but definitely nice to have in the drawer as not cheap and we are throwing in with the deal. Try and buy real ones (not chinese fakes) for under $180usd a pair versus the 8 we are including. Way over $1200 aud included in the price.
My breakdown of PW1 vs PW2, if you have a spare $11k+ lying around, grab the PW2 as its an impressive amplifier but the ICPW1 is the best example of tried and tested grunt and with an automatic antenna tuner which I swear is every bit as good as my HF Auto Palstar. I think it is something that is seriously overlooked when buying a solid state amp, does it include a high power antenna tuning system and many ldmos boxes are not complete solutions,. The Icom PW1 or of course the PW2 is the Swiss army knife of next level operation power with an incredible antenna tuner. When you pop a PW1 onto your Icom or other brand Transceiver, its so straight forward and easy to get functional, I run my current PW2 on my remote station but this is exactly what my PW1 did previously, purely used on remote and never an issue. If your running an Icom Transceiver, you gain the auto switching that is just fabulous for especially my remote operation, I can see so much live with my DL8MRE software, its insanely easy.
Pw1 or pw2, its a budget question vs a more bang for your buck question, I personally think the manual Alc setup on the PW1 is more to my liking, but thats just my old school twiddling pots versus letting software do my work for me. I would not care which box was sitting on my remote system, Marcus DL8MRE is still perfecting the IC7850 remote software so my 7760 and PW2 here for a while yet. Just remember, you are not in anyway buying a downgrade amp, some have suggested the MRF150s are the key to the PW1s incredible durability, I'm not qualified to speak on MRF150 vs LDmos, however, both have given me great service.
